REPORTS TO: Education Committee
COMPENSATION: Part Time, no benefits, approximately $10,000 - $12,000 annum
Overview: The Education Coordinator will engage with school and community partners to market, schedule and manage the aviation education programs offered. The Coordinator will work closely with the Education Committee to design, implement, and evaluate aviation education programs.

Overview: The Education Coordinator will engage with school and community partners to market, schedule and manage the aviation education programs offered. The Coordinator will work closely with the Education Committee to design, implement, and evaluate aviation education programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiates, leads, and oversees activities in the museum's program spaces through facilitating educational programs including classes for school and childcare groups, family-groups activities, and community partners
- Collaborates with local and statewide community educators to create awareness and enhance programming
- Establishes consistent and yearly aviation education programs for area schools, Colleges, Universities and agencies such as Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, Boy and Girls Scouts
- Trains volunteers to assist with approved aviation education programs
- Drafts a yearly roster of aviation education programs for all ages including instructors, fees, budget, dates and times and submits to Board of Directors for approval
- Builds and maintains a profitable budget for each offered educational program
- Works with designated board members to create and implement effective marketing to ensure high enrollment
- Serves as an enthusiastic ambassador for the museum's educational programs
- Helps to develop new programming and create a diversity of educational formats in which aviation is featured
- Supports grant research and grant writing to fund educational programs as needed
- Builds and follows Standard Operating Procedures for programs outreach, setup and training
- Maintains and develops compendium of lesson plans, tool kits and digital resources
- Maintains and develops nationwide database of aviation volunteers
- Maintains effective and cordial working relationships with other employees, officials and all member of the general public. Positively represents the Center at all times
- Provide museum event and program support
- May serve on various board committees, as appropriate to programming
- Partners with the Board of Directors and the Education Committee to market the education programs to ensure broad reach and high enrollment
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Experience in museum education or a related field
- Knowledge of general educational programs for children, adults and families.
- Polished manner and effective writing and speaking skills
- Some familiarity with, and an appreciation and passion for aviation is required
- Flexible schedule and ability to work weekends when necessary
- Team spirit and upbeat, positive attitude, and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all ages
- Prior experience in working in a classroom environment is preferred. Prior experience teaching or experience in any relevant educational field involving development of lesson plans and/or educational programs is preferred
